It's because of grunge that the attention for genuine hard rock slackened a bit, otherwise Skid Row would have had a bigger fanbase. Because songs like '18 and Life', 'Youth Gone Wild' and 'Slave To The Grind' are real hardrock-evergreens. The band fits seamlessly into the quality stream of hardrock bands from the eightees, such as Cinderella, Warrant, Poison and their bigger brothers Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard. But unlike many grunge bands, Skid Row has the longest breath. And speaking of grunge.... Skid Row once wanted to take a very young Nirvana on tour. So they didn't just have a nose for golden hardrock hits.
