The album presentation of the Eindhoven rap-troubadour Marco Martens. During this evening poetry meets hip-hop, beautiful clean words between the rough raw walls of the Stroomhuis. With the opener Koen Frijns and Musichub Brabant talent Eva Van Pelt as a delicately elegant addition.
For almost twenty years, Marco Martens and Royal with Cheese have been productive suppliers of contrary hip-hop separately from each other. In 2013 they joined forces and made the album 'Tweede Viool / Derde Bedrijf' (Second Violin / Third Company) and in October their new LP 'Vera' will be released. Although the basis consists of beats and (narrative) raps, their sound sometimes tends towards the fine arts. And where the tunes are sometimes damn danceable, the mission of Marco Martens and Royal with Cheese is clear: lyrics over turnups; beauty over bombast. As Hiphop In Je Smoel wrote in 2013: 'Artists within the hip-hop scene'. They don't have to conquer the world with it, they are already happy when they can grasp it in their songs.
