The Turkish-Dutch band Altın Gün mixes Turkish folk and disco pop with gritty psychedelics, funk and rock into a very danceable whole. They are inspired by traditional Turkish music. Altın Gün manages to retain the Turkish sound of the seventies, with musicians like Selda Bağcan, Barış Manço and Erkin Koray, but still sounds super fresh. Just like their musical role models, they experiment with the fusion of different musical worlds. Their new album Gece was released recently, you listen to it here.
The Dutch band YIN YIN is inspired by 60's and 70's sounds from South Asia and combines this with influences of world music, disco, funk and electronic music. They call it 'Thaichedelic' themselves. How does that sound? That's how it sounds!
